Euro 2020: All you need to know about the tournament
First of all, a match has 2 halves, each with 45 minutes. Occasionally, injury time is added to the full 90 minutes of the match, to compensate for delays with substitutions or other stops during the match. The 1st phase of the tournament is called the Group Stage, where all 24 teams are divided into 4 groups.
Each team plays a total of 3 matches against other teams in the same group, with wins counting 3 points, 1 point for the draw and 0 points for the losing side. The top two in each of the 6 groups will proceed in the round of 16 along with the four best third-placed finishers.
After the Group Stage, 16 teams will play the knockout stages. Here, if the result is a draw at the end of regular time, the match continues with the overtime (or extra-time) to decide who qualifies to the next round. The overtime also has two halves but only 15 minutes each, a little added time also possible.
If there is still no winner, the final result is decided with a penalty shootout. Following the Round of 16 are the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals and the Final, with the top 2 teams deciding who will be crowned European Champions!
Let’s now find the best markets for Euro 2020!
Find the best betting markets for Euro 2020
We understand it’s not easy to find the best betting markets among so many options, but we can help. In this article, we give you the top markets for Euro 2020.
This is the most popular bet of all. It is as simple as that. You predict the final outcome of the game at the end of the regular time. Who will win, the home team, the away team, or will it be a draw? You choose. Please keep in mind this bet is settled at the end of regular time, which is 90 minutes and injury time.
How many goals will be scored during the regular time? We offer many different lines on the total goals markets. Here is a little guide of what would happen in some scenarios:
Over 0.5: To win this bet, you only need 1 goal.
Over 0.75: Technically this is 2 bets. Half of the stake is placed on over 0.5, and the other half of the stake is placed on over 1, which means if there’s only 1 goal, half of the bet is paid out as winner, due to over 0.5, but the other half of the stake is returned due to over 1.0. If there are 2 goals, it is paid out fully.
Over 1: If there is 1 goal, we pay back your stake, if there are 2 goals at least, you win the bet.
Over 1.25: Technically this is 2 bets, half of the stake is placed on over 1, and the other half of the stake is placed on over 1.5, which means if there is only 1 goal, half of the bet lost (over 1.5). The other half is returned.
We created a table for the different lines:
One team has a virtual lead over the other side. A minus symbol (-) is given to the favourite team, which has a handicap disadvantage. A plus symbol (+) assigned to the underdog team, which has a handicap advantage. Let’s see how it works:
0.0: If the result is a draw, we refund the stake. If your team wins, you also win. If your team loses, you lose this bet.
-0.25: Technically this is 2 bets. Half of the stake is placed on handicap 0, the other half is placed on -0.5. If the match is a draw, half of the stake will be returned (the one on 0), while the other half is lost.
-0.75: Technically this is 2 bets. Half of the stake is placed on asian handicap -0.5, the other half is placed on -1. So, if the team wins by 1 goal, half of the bet is a winner (the one on -0.5), while the other half (-1) stake will be returned.
We have created a table that helps you understand the different handicap lines:
Draw no bet
This is a bet where you can secure your bet. In case the game ends with a draw, you will get the stake back.
Predict the final score of the regular time.
Anytime, first, last and next goalscorer markets
Predict who will score the first, the last or the next goal. You can predict if the player scores a goal at any time during the game too. Own goals do not count. Stake will be refunded on players who do not take part in the game.
Predict the number of cards given by the referee. Yellow card counts as 1 card, while red card counts as 2. A player can collect a maximum of 3 points.
From the knockout stages on, all matches go to overtime if the regular time score ends in a draw. Here you predict which team will win in the overtime, which is composed of two halves of 15 minutes each. Extra time can also be added to each half.
Both Teams to Score
Through this market, you predict if the match will have goals on both sides or not. If you bet on Yes, you win the bet if both sides score at least 1 goal. In case you bet on No, you win the bet if only one team scores or the match ends with no goals.
This market is similar to the Total Goals markets, but here what matters is the number of corners in the match. Let’s see the possibilities:
Corner 1×2: Here you predict which team will have more corners during the match or if both teams will end with the same number.
Total corners: Here you predict the total number of corners during the match. Both teams’ corners during the match count for this market. If you bet on Over, it means you win the bet if the total number of corners in the match is higher than the one specified in the market.
In case of betting on Under, you win the bet if the total number of corners in the match is lower than the one specified in the market.
Corner range: Here we give you a series of selections for the total number of corners in the match. For example, from 0-8, you win if the match has a maximum of 8 corners.
1st half – 1×2
In this market, you predict the final outcome of the first half, with injury time included. Basically, until the whistle blows for all teams to go to the locker room! You can bet which team will end the first half ahead in the score, or if the first half ends in a draw.
