Ollie Pope says the power of England’s preparation camp, and the three-day warm-up game that closed on Friday at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, has placed the crew in a decent spot in front of the Test arrangement against West Indies which starts one week from now.

The training game between Team Stokes and Team Buttler finished in a draw on the last day with Pope making 55 not out in Team Buttler’s subsequent innings to go with his 25 on the very beginning. Group Stokes then completed on 157 for 4 with Jonny Bairstow, Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley and Ben Stokes all investing helpful energy in the center.

Generally, the game appeared to be played in a serious way and most of the competitors for a spot in England’s last eleven against the West Indies one week from now invested energy in the center with either ball or bat. In general, it was about as acceptable a check up for the following week’s first Test as England’s administration could have sought after.

Quality cricket going on from three days – says Ollie Pope

“The quality of competition going on out there was really high-class throughout the three days,” Pope said. “I think we’re getting there. I felt the first inning is pretty good , and i would like to spend some more time out there today. We’re all going towards the right direction.”

As indicated by Pope, the Ageas Bowl wicket was on the moderate side which remained rather than the net pitches the 30-man crew prepared since they showed up in Southampton last Tuesday (June 23). It made for a fascinating test for the batsmen, specifically, driving them to adjust to the various conditions.

“We’re gone from one outrageous to the next. That is extraordinary for our games since it’s acceptable to adjust,” said Pope, who has played seven Tests since making his introduction in 2018.

Britain will name a bigger than typical 22-man crew on Saturday morning for the initial Test. The crew and the board will be tried for COVID-19 on Sunday.
