After Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Chelsea is preparing to cheer up again the transfer market. Club directors are in Germany to secure one of Bundesliga’s most talented players. We talk about Kai Havertz, Leverkusen’s biggest star and one of the most talented players of his generation (21 years old). For now, the Londoners spent 93 million euros on Ziyech and Werner but it seems that Abramovich will have to waste a similar amount just to guarantee the German midfielder. The Blues plan to offer a 5-year deal worth €7.5 million/year.

A rare talent

After a brilliant campaign last season, the German playmaker repeated the great level in 2019/20. Leverkusen’s prodigy is the youngest player ever to complete 50 appearances in Bundesliga (18 years old) and stands out for his great ability to score goals. Last season, he celebrated in 20 occasions and this year added 17 more: impressive marks for a midfielder playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

He has an unusual skill to play with both feet. In addition to the 17 goals scored, he is also a team player: Havertz made nine assists throughout the season. There are many arguments to convince Frank Lampard and Abramovich to move forward, but Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are in the race too.

Chelsea willing to sell

Chelsea is a rich club. But to get a 90 million euro player requires some financial efforts. The Londoners know that if Kai Havertz’s move goes ahead, they need to sell some assets to balance their financials.

At the moment, the Blues spent 93 million euros. They manage to minimize these expenses with three important moves. Alvaro Morata (Atletico de Madrid), Mario Pasalic (Atalanta) and Nathan (Atletico MG) already guaranteed 74 million euros.

Chelsea would be willing to sell six players to find financial viability to guarantee the German star. Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kenedy and Emerson Palmieri are the main candidates to leave Stamford Bridge.
