Sevilla v Real Betis – June 11
La Liga’s opening match is the Sevilla derby. Sevilla host Real Betis at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, 3 months after their last competitive match.
Currently sitting 3rd, Sevilla has been playing well this season and they need to continue getting points to keep their place in La Liga’s top spots. Just two points separate third from sixth, so it’s vital to win.
Before the break, Sevilla had 2 wins in the last 3 matches, and the last one was a good 2-2 away draw against Atletico Madrid.
Currently sitting 12th, Real Betis comes from a great 2-1 win at Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid, just before the break. The team has been showing good moments throughout the season but still needs to improve in their ability to control the games. Real Betis usually scores and concedes goals and usually their matches go over 2.5 goals.
Sevilla are favourites to win and we expect the home team to get the edge at the derby, as they did last November. Check Sevilla to win!
Mallorca v Barcelona – June 13
Barcelona travels to Mallorca to face the local team at Iberostar Estadi.
Currently sitting 18th in La Liga, Mallorca’s primary goal is to secure their spot in the Spanish League next season. The team is 2 points behind Celta Vigo and its vital to secure points in order to get out of the relegation zone.
Mallorca won at Eibar in the last match before the break and the team is confident in keeping the good rhythm. Mallorca won 20 of their 25 points in the league playing at home and they’ll try to keep the good form playing in front of their fans.
Barcelona has been showing difficulties playing away from home. The team lost points in 8 of the 13 away matches played so far and Mallorca is a tough team to beat playing in their home turf. However, as the game will be played behind closed doors, Barcelona has an extra advantage. The team won just one of their last 5 away games and it will be crucial to get the 3 points. Real Madrid is just 2 points behind and every win counts from now on.
Barcelona is clearly the favourite and, with Luis Suarez back in the team, we expect the Blaugrana to win! Check Barcelona to win!
Athletic Bilbao v Atletico Madrid – June 14
In one of the tightest games of La Liga’s opening round, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid will face off at San Mames.
Before the break, not only Athletic Bilbao secure their spot in the final of the Copa Del Rey, but also won back to back La Liga matches against Villarreal and Valladolid. The team is very confident about the big match against Atletico Madrid and, despite not having the support of their fans, Athletic Bilbao will be very tough to beat at home.
Atletico Madrid was able to beat Liverpool to reach Champions League quarter-finals, but in La Liga, the team is showing some difficulties. Especially playing away from Wanda Metropolitano. Before the break, Atletico Madrid had a 2-2 home draw against Sevilla. Simeone will not have Joao Felix available for the match due to injury.
Atletico Madrid is expected to approach the game defensively, trying to surprise Athletic Bilbao through counters. 3 of their last 4 meetings had under 2.5 goals and we expect the same for the next match. Check Under 2.5 goals!
Real Madrid v Eibar – June 14
Real Madrid will try to restart La Liga with a convincing win at home against Eibar.
Despite having won just one match in their last 4 in La Liga, Real Madrid will try to restart the competition with a convincing win at home against Eibar. With 2 points behind Barcelona, Zidane and the team will need to win to keep the pursuit to their rivals. Real Madrid won 4-0 at Ipurua in the first part of the season. Eden Hazard is back with the group.
Currently sitting 16th in La Liga, Eibar’s primary focus is to avoid falling into the relegation zone. The team is just 2 points ahead of Mallorca, the first team in the relegation zone. Eibar has 4 losses in their last 5 matches before the break and won just one time away from home in 13 matches.
Anything but a comfortable win from Real Madrid will be a surprise. Check Real Madrid -2.5!
