Liga NOS continues on fire as FC Porto and SL Benfica are equal on top of the standings with 60 points. League’s top-4 teams lost points on the opening round. Check our Previews and Betting predictions for round 26 of the Portuguese League.

Portimonense v SL Benfica – June 10

SL Benfica has drawn their last 3 Liga NOS matches and the team will want to get back to winning ways against Portimonense.

Portimonense

Portimonense is performing well below expectations this season, as the team has the quality to be above in the standings. Currently sitting in 17h, 6 points behind the first sport outside the relegation zone, Portimonense had a great victory in the opening round. It was a great boost of confidence for a team that is battling hard to keep a spot in the Portuguese League next season.

SL Benfica

SL Benfica has been getting bad results since February, winning just one of their last nine matches across all competitions. Returning from the break, the home draw against Tondela was totally unexpected and the result increases the pressure for Bruno Lage and the team. Especially knowing that FC Porto had lost the day before and a win would have to give Benfica the league’s top position. SL Benfica will need to win if they want to keep their title chances alive.

The team bus was attacked after Tondela’s match and both Weigl and Zivkovic had to take medical attention after the incident.

Betting Prediction

Despite the unexpected home draw in the last fixture, SL Benfica still created a lot of chances, hitting the woodwork twice. We expect SL Benfica to win in a very tight match as Portimonense desperately needs points to get out of the relegation zone. Check SL Benfica to win!

FC Porto v Marítimo – June 10

FC Porto hosts Maritimo at Estadio do Dragao. The home team is currently locked in a race with SL Benfica for the title.

FC Porto

It was surprising to see FC Porto losing against Famalicao on the opening round of Liga NOS. Especially because the team played at a high level but wasn’t efficient with the numerous chances they had to score. Because of it, FC Porto lost the 2-point advantage they had for SL Benfica and the race for the title is as tight as ever.

Against Marítimo at home, anything but a FC Porto win would be surprising. Historically, FC Porto won 22 of the last 24 matches at home against Marítimo, and after losing against Famalicao, Sergio Conceicao will want to get back into the winning track. FC Porto has the best home record in the Portuguese League, winning 10 of the 12 matches played at Estadio do Dragao so far.

Marítimo

Marítimo’s draw in the opening round was not great for a team that its battling to avoid falling in the relegation zone. Marítimo is 6 points ahead the relegation zone and now faces probably the toughest challenge as they visit FC Porto. The team lost points in 10 of the 12 matches played away from Madeira, and it will be a great achievement if they manage to get a single point against FC Porto.

Betting Prediction

Considering the moment and the quality of the teams, we expect FC Porto to deliver a massive win against Maritimo. Check FC Porto to score in both halves.

Sporting CP v Paços Ferreira – June 12

Sporting CP will get back to play at home after 3 months away from competitive matches. The team hosts Pacos Ferreira that is desperate to avoid relegation spots.

Sporting CP

After a 2-2 draw at Guimaraes in the opening round, Sporting CP hosts Pacos Ferreira at Estadio de Alvalade. Slovenian striker Sporar scored a brace and is in great shape to continue providing goals for a team that is having a very difficult season. Sporting CP is 3 points behind SC Braga in the fight for the 3rd spot and will need to win to keep their podium chances alive. The team won 4 of their last 5 home matches for Liga NOS and won the last 7 games against Pacos Ferreira.

Pacos Ferreira

Pacos Ferreira comes from a great win at Vila do Conde against Rio Ave and has 3 wins in the last 4 league matches. The team is battling hard to avoid relegation and the latest matches are a sign of confidence for what’s left of Liga NOS. Despite having lost points in 9 of their 12 league matches away, Pacos Ferreira won the last 2 trips and is motivated to get a surprise at Estadio de Alvalade.

Bettin Prediction

Sporting CP is the favourite but the game can be tricky as Pacos Ferreira is on a great run of results. Check Both Teams to Score!
